Our summer outing this year took us by coach to Waltham Abbey and the river Lee, where we boarded a canal long boat, the “Lady of Lee Valley” for a very peasant cruise enjoying tea/coffee and Danish pastries. While envy is not the name of the game, there were some very attractive homes along the river side that had some of us looking wistfully.  We then proceeded to the town of Waltham Abbey, very old and charming with its historic church which gives its name to the town. With only an hour and a half for lunch and to have a look around, I believe everyone enjoyed the visit, plus the weather held good for us.  We then proceeded to the 2012 Olympic site at Stratford where the coach travelled around the the area and we were able to view some of the various sporting venues under construction, completing the day with a short visit to the ExCell Centre and then home.

Below are photographs taken during the course of the day.
